IN THE INTEREST OF D.D.D., a Child
From the 166th Judicial District Court, Bexar County, Texas Trial Court No. 2022PA01953 Honorable Kimberly Burley, Judge Presiding
ORDER
PER CURIAM
This is an accelerated appeal of an order terminating appellant's parental rights which must be disposed of by this court within 180 days of the date the notice of appeal is filed. Tex. R. Jud. Admin. 6.2. Appellant's brief was originally due on April 9, 2024 and was not filed. On April 11, 2024, we ordered appellant's appointed counsel to file the brief by April 22, 2024. In our order, we cautioned counsel that if the brief was not filed, we would abate this appeal to the trial court for a hearing to determine if new appellate counsel should be appointed.
On April 23, 2024, appellant's appointed counsel filed a motion requesting an extension of time until April 29, 2024 to file the brief, and we granted the motion. In our order, we cautioned counsel that further extensions of time would be disfavored.
On April 29, 2024, appellant's appointed counsel requested an additional extension of time until May 3, 2024 to file the brief. After consideration, we GRANT the motion and ORDER appellant's appointed appellate attorney, Mr. Shawn D. Sheffield, to file appellant's brief by May 3, 2024. No further extensions of time will be granted. If the brief is not filed by such date, this appeal will be abated to the trial court for a hearing to determine if new appellate counsel should be appointed and to consider whether sanctions should be imposed against Mr. Sheffield for failing to timely file appellant's brief.
It is so ORDERED.
