IN RE: Reginal E. Burleigh
ORDER TO DISCHARGE LIMITED RECEIVER
THIS MATTER having been reviewed by the undersigned justice of the Court, upon the petition of the Limited Receiver herein for an order discharging him as a Limited Receiver of the law practice of Reginald Burleigh, (deceased) the Court makes the following findings of facts and conclusions of law:
FINDINGS OF FACT
1. On December 6, 2021, upon motion of the Board of Overseers of the Bar, the Court appointed Jefferson Ashby, Esq, as Limited Receiver of the law practice of Reginald Burleigh.
2. Jefferson Ashby, Limited Receiver of the law practice of Reginald Burleigh, acting in good faith, has taken all reasonable steps to fulfill his obligations as Limited Receiver of the law practice of Reginald Burleigh.
3. The Limited Receiver has accounted for all case files of Reginald Burleigh and has determined the status of each case, and has worked to ensure that all open files were addressed by substitute counsel. For reasons slated in the Report of Limited Receiver filed with this Court, no files required a return to clients. No funds were discovered to have been held in trust by Reginald Burleigh at the time of his death.
Based on the foregoing FINDINGS OF FACT, the Court makes the following conclusions of law:
CONCLUSIONS OF LAW
1. Jefferson Ashby, Limited Receiver of law practice of Reginald Burleigh, has taken all reasonable steps to discharge his obligations as Limited Receiver of the law practice of Reginald Burleigh.
2. Jefferson Ashby is ordered to maintain in storage at Ashby law office, 11 Park-St., Presque Isle, Maine those Case files that require maintenance until such time as the Maine Rules of Professional Responsibility require their destruction.
3. Jefferson Ashby is in all other respects discharged from his obligations as Limited Receiver for the law practice of Reginald Burleigh.
