IN RE THE RETIREMENT OF JUDGE ELLEN B. BRANTLEY
PER CURIAM
Upon the occasion of her retirement, the Supreme Court of Arkansas salutes the Honorable Ellen B. Brantley for her twenty-six years of service as a judge for the Sixth Judicial Circuit and for her many contributions to the betterment of the judicial system. She was appointed to a position on the Sixth Circuit Chancery Court in 1986, and was then elected as Circuit Judge, Position 16, until her retirement on December 31, 2012. At the time of her appointment, she was a law professor, and prior to her teaching career, she had practiced law and served as an Assistant Attorney General.
In addition to her duties on behalf of the Sixth Circuit, she worked selflessly to improve the judicial system. She was appointed by the Arkansas Bar Association to serve on the Task Force on the Code of Judicial Conduct, which resulted in the adoption of a new model code in 2009. For almost twenty years, she served on the Arkansas Supreme Court Child Support Committee and worked tirelessly to maintain the currency of the child-support guidelines. Her fellow judges recognized her leadership by selecting her as the president of the Arkansas Judicial Council in 2005. The Supreme Court acknowledges with pleasure the achievements of Judge Ellen Brantley and wishes her well in all future endeavors.
