IN RE: THE COMMITMENT OF STEPHEN PATRICK BLACK,

From the 274th Judicial District Court, Guadalupe County, Texas Trial Court No. CV-15-1805 Honorable Gary L. Steel, Judge Presiding

ORDER

Luz Elena D. Chapa, Justice

On November 5, 2024, we directed the Clerk of the Court to change the designation of appellate cause number 04-24-00692-CV from an appeal to an original proceeding, and admonished Stephen Patrick Black his case would be dismissed for want of jurisdiction November 15, 2024, unless he filed a petition for writ of mandamus that complied with Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 52.3. On November 15, 2024, Black filed a motion for an extension of time to file a petition for writ of mandamus, seeking a thirty-day extension.

We grant in part the motion and order Black to file a petition for writ of mandamus that complies with Texas Rule of Appellate Procedure 52.3 no later than November 25, 2024. If a petition for writ of mandamus is not field by that date, this case will be dismissed for want of jurisdiction. Further requests for extension will be disfavored.
