IN THE MATTER OF THE APPOINTMENT OF JUSTICE BRENT DICKSON AS CHAIR OF THE INDIANA JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION AND INDIANA COMMISSION ON JUDICIAL QUALIFICATIONS

ORDER OF APPOINTMENT
Randall T. Shepard, Acting Chief Justice of Indiana.
Article 7, section 9 of the Indiana Constitution states in relevant part:
There shall be one judicial nominating commission for the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. This commission shall, in addition, be the commission on judicial qualifications for the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals
The judicial nominating commission shall consist of seven members, a majority of whom shall form a quorum, one of who shall be the Chief Justice of the State or a Justice of the Supreme Court whom he may designate, who shall act as chairman.
Accordingly, I hereby DESIGNATE Justice Brent E. Dickson to serve as chairman of the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission and Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications. Unless rescinded by order of this Court, this designation shall remain in effect until Justice Dickson becomes Acting Chief Justice of Indiana pursuant to article 7, section 3 of the Indiana Constitution, at which time Justice Dickson, as Acting Chief Justice, will automatically assume chairmanship of the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission and Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications pursuant to article 7, section 9 of the Indiana Constitution.
The Clerk is directed to send a copy of this order to Justice Brent E. Dickson; to Adrienne Meiring, Counsel to the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission; to the members of the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission; to Mitchell E. Daniels, Governor of Indiana; to Tim Berry, Auditor of Indiana; to the State Budget Agency; and to the Indiana Supreme Court Administration Office. The Clerk is also directed to post this order to the Court's website.
