IN THE MATTER OF A.P., A JUVENILE
On Appeal from the 305th Judicial District Court Dallas County, Texas Trial Court Cause No. JD-23-00824-X
ORDER
ROBERT D. BURNS, III CHIEF JUSTICE
Appellant's brief is overdue. On June 10, 2024, we ordered counsel for appellant to file a brief along with an extension motion. Before the Court is the June 11, 2024 "Notice of Motion for Appointment of Appellate Counsel and Request for Extension of Time to File Brief" filed by appellant's counsel. Counsel explains in the motion that she represented appellant in the trial court and filed the notice of appeal as a courtesy when asked by appellant's family to do so. Counsel asks for a ninety-day extension to allow the trial court to appoint appellate counsel for appellant. We GRANT the motion only as follows.
We ORDER the Honorable Cheryl Lee-Shannon, Presiding Judge of the 305th Judicial District Court, to appoint counsel to represent appellant. The order appointing counsel shall be signed no later than June 27, 2024.
We ORDER Dallas County District Clerk Felicia Pitre to file, no later than July 1, 2024, a supplemental clerk's record with the trial court's order appointing counsel.
Appellant's brief will be due July 31, 2024.
We DIRECT the Clerk of this Court to send a copy of this order to the Honorable Cheryl Lee-Shannon, Presiding Judge of the 305th Judicial District Court; Ms. Pitre; and all counsel.
