The Arizona Supreme Court has approved amendments to the Rules of the Supreme Court governing the attorney discipline system. The revised rules take effect on January 1, 2011. Pursuant to Rule 50, as revised, the Attorney Discipline Probable Cause Committee of the Supreme Court of Arizona is established as a permanent committee of the Supreme Court. The rule specifies the committee shall consist of six active members of the state bar and three public, non-lawyer members. The chief justice is responsible for appointing members to the committee and shall consider geographic, gender and ethnic diversity in making the appointments. Initially, members are appointed for fixed, staggered terms of one (1), two (2) or three (3) years.

Appointment and training of the members of this new committee is necessary prior to the effective date of the revised rules. Therefore, after due consideration,

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED appointing Justice Michael D. Ryan (retired) as chair and Daisy Flores as vice-chair of the committee.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the members shall receive training regarding their responsibilities and the revised rules before the January 1, 2011 effective date of their service on the committee.
