QIAN HOKASHI-MECHALITH, Appellant v. THE STATE OF TEXAS, Appellee

On Appeal from the 296th Judicial District Court Collin County, Texas
Trial Court Cause Nos. 296-81904-2016 & 296-81905-2016

ORDER

We REINSTATE these appeals.

On July 20, 2017, we abated these appeals for the trial court to conduct a hearing to determine why appellant's brief has not been filed. Our order stated that if appellant is indigent, the trial court should take such measures as may be necessary to assure effective representation, which may include appointment of new counsel. On August 4, 2017, we received the trial court's order removing William Schultz and appointing Stephanie Duecker Hudson as new appellate counsel.

We DIRECT the Clerk of the Court to add Stephanie Duecker Hudson as appellant's appointed counsel of record.

We ORDER appellant to file his brief within forty-five days of the date of this order.

We DIRECT the Clerk to send copies of this order, by electronic transmission, to Ms. Hudson and to the Collin County District Attorney's Office.
