MARK HASSAN, Petitioner v. COMMISSIONER OF INTERNAL REVENUE, Respondent
ORDER
Albert G. Lauber Judge
Petitioner timely petitioned this Court in June 2019, and the case was originally calendared on the Court's June 15, 2020, Los Angeles, California, trial session. In the two and a half years since this case has been pending, it has been continued twice and the parties have filed 15 status reports, 9 of which were filed after we granted the parties' last Motion for Continuance on July 28, 2021.
On August 12, 2022, we issued an Order warning that we would set this case for trial if the parties' subsequent status reports failed to show meaningful progress towards resolution. In the 6 months since that Order, the parties have filed 3 status reports, all evidencing very little progress. On February 27, 2023, the parties filed their latest status report in which petitioner requests that the case "not be set for trial at this time" and instead seeks "another extension of time." Respondent requests that the undersigned retain jurisdiction and that the case be set on an upcoming trial session in Los Angeles at which the undersigned will be presiding. The undersigned's upcoming trial schedule does not include a trial session in Los Angeles.
Upon due consideration, it is ORDERED that jurisdiction of this case is no longer retained by the undersigned. It is further ORDERED that this case is returned to the general docket for trial or other disposition.
