EFREN GUEL, Appellant v. THE STATE OF TEXAS, Appellee

On Appeal from the 291st Judicial District Court Dallas County, Texas Trial Court Cause Nos. F21-76847-U, F23-00048-U

ORDER

NANCY KENNEDY JUSTICE

We REINSTATE these appeals.

On March 28, 2024, and May 20, 2024, we abated these appeals for the trial court to hold a hearing and make findings and recommendations concerning appellant's counsel's failure to timely file appellant's brief. On June 3, 2024, appellant's counsel tendered appellant's brief and filed a motion for extension of time to file the brief. We GRANT the motion for extension of time to file the brief, and we ORDER the brief received with the motion filed as of the date of this order.

We VACATE the March 28, 2024 order and the May 20, 2024 order to the extent they ordered the trial court to hold a hearing and make findings and recommendations. The trial court need not hold the hearing or make the findings and recommendations required by those orders.

We DIRECT the Clerk to send copies of this order to the Honorable Stephanie Huff, Presiding Judge, 291st Judicial District Court; Felicia Pitre, Dallas County District Clerk; Sasha Brooks, Official Court Reporter, 291st Judicial District Court; Christina O'Neil, Chief Judicial Staff Counsel for the Criminal District Courts, Dallas County; and counsel for all parties.
