ORDER
Plaintiff Jasmine Gray ("Gray") seeks an order compelling the defendants to provide her with unredacted copies of three New York City Police Department records that the defendants have thus far provided only in redacted form. Docket Entry ("DE") 96. The defendants oppose the disclosure of two of the three reports and make no comment on the third. DE 98. Having now reviewed the unredacted versions of all three reports in chambers, I deny Gray's application.
Two of the reports at issue relate to an incident in December 1990. In her request for relief, Gray writes that these reports were created when she was "sexually abused by her foster mother's son[.]" DE 96. The defendants disagree, and assert that the reports were created in response to a complaint about the sexual of another person. DE 98. I reviewed the unredacted reports and saw nothing to support Gray's characterization; to the contrary, the names that have been redacted appear to be entirely unrelated to the instant case. I cannot discern, and Gray has not explained, any possible basis that Gray had for her characterization of the documents, but I need not consider the good faith with which that characterization was provided — it is sufficient to note that it appears to be wrong. Absent any reason to think that any information in the reports of the 1990 incident is relevant to the instant dispute, I deny the request for the unredacted versions of those documents.
The third report relates to an incident in May 1988, and Gray describes it as having been created "when Jasmine was found abandoned by her mother." DE 96. The defendants neither affirm nor deny that characterization, but I note that this one at least does bear Gray's name. Neither of the letters submitted to me makes any argument as to why I should or should not grant this portion of Gray's application to see the report in its unexpurgated form. In the absence of argument from either party on this issue, I decline to disturb the status quo and therefore deny the request.
For the reasons set forth above, I deny plaintiff Jasmine Gray's application for an order compelling the defendants to produce unredacted copies of certain police reports.
