GEORGE LEON GOODRIE, Petitioner, v. CAPTAIN ROBERT LESTER, Yellowstone County Detention Center. Respondent.
ORDER
Representing himself, George Leon Goodrie has filed a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus, indicating several problems with his sentences for four older criminal cases, as well as three newer ones, adjudicated in the Thirteenth Judicial District Court, Yellowstone County. Goodrie argues that his sentence is longer than the law allows, pursuant to § 46-18-203(7)(a)(iii), MCA. and that his incarceration is illegal. He attaches several documents, including a 2016 Order revoking four of his sentences, register of actions for several cases, and a sentence calculation showing eight sentences. We point out that the District Court set aside three of the sentences of revocation in a January 31, 2017 Order that does not appear to be sent to the Department of Corrections. Upon review, we deem it appropriate to require a response to Goodrie's Petition. Therefore, IT IS ORDERED that that the Attorney General or counsel for the Department of Correction is GRANTED thirty days from the date of this Order in which to prepare, file, and serve a written response together with appropriate documentary' exhibits.
The Clerk is directed to provide a copy of this Order to counsel of record and to George Leon Goodrie personally.
