With dissolution of a partnership the confidential relationship of the partners ceases as far as new transactions are concerned, and any former partners are at liberty to buy property, to take leases, or in general to make contracts as individuals for their own benefit. Garrison v. Liebman, 12 Misc.2d 614, 173 N.Y.S.2d 353; Meyer v. Sharp, 341 Ill.App. 431, 94 N.E.2d 510. Ordinarily, interest is not allowed on unascertained balances remaining in one partner's hands after dissolution of the firm.
