MEMORANDUM OPINION
James Arthur Freeman, Jr. was convicted of three aggravated robberies and one attempted aggravated robbery. Punishment was assessed at thirty years' imprisonment for each aggravated robbery and twenty years' imprisonment for the attempted aggravated robbery. Sentence was imposed in open court on December 19, 2005. No timely motions for new trial were filed; therefore, appellant's notices of appeal were due by January 18, 2006. See Tex.R.App.P. 26.2(a)(1). Appellant's notices of appeal were filed on January 19, 2006, one day late, and no extension motions were filed in this Court.See Tex.R.App.P. 26.3(b). Absent timely notices of appeal, we have no jurisdiction over the appeals. See Slaton v. State, 981 S.W.2d 208, 210 (Tex.Crim.App. 1998) (per curiam); Boyd v. State, 971 S.W.2d 603, 605-06 (Tex.App.-Dallas 1998, no pet.). Accordingly, we dismiss the appeals for want of jurisdiction.
Appellant filed untimely motions for new trial on January 19, 2006. See Tex.R.App.P. 21.4(a) (motion for new trial due within thirty days of date sentence imposed in open court).
We notified appellant and the State by letter dated March 20, 2006 that the notices of appeal appeared to be untimely. Although appellant was directed to file a brief addressing our jurisdiction by March 29, 2006, he did not respond.
