The Florida Bar having filed on May 30, 2006, Notice of Determination or Judgment of Guilt showing that Pedro Gilberto Velez, Jr. has been convicted of a felony by the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, and the above-named attorney having filed a Petition to Modify or Terminate Suspension, it is ordered that Pedro Gilberto Velez, Jr. is hereby automatically suspended from The Florida Bar pursuant to 3-7.2(e) of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, effective immediately since respondent has waived the deferment of said suspension. Respondent shall accept no new business from the date this order is filed until the suspension expires.

The above-styled cause is referred to a referee on the issue of mitigation. See R. Regulating Fla. Bar 3-7.2(f)(3) ("[m]odification or termination of the suspension shall be granted only upon a showing of good cause"). The referee shall consider Respondent's Petition to Modify or Terminate Suspension and shall make a recommendation to this Court on the length of respondent's suspension.

See Rule 3-5.1(g) of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.

Not final until time expires to file motion for rehearing and, if filed determined. The filing of a motion for rehearing shall not alter the effective date of this suspension.
