ORDER

After apparently considering the merits of appellant's pro se application for a writ of habeas corpus, the trial court denied the application on December 14, 2016. The notice of appeal was due on January 13, 2017. TEX. R. APP. P. 26.2(a)(1). Appellant filed a pro se notice of appeal on March 30, 2017. Appellant did not file a motion for extension of time to file the notice of appeal.

Therefore, it is ORDERED that appellant show cause in writing no later than May 2 , 2017 why this appeal should not be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
