DEKKIOS DAVIS, Appellant v. THE STATE OF TEXAS, Appellee

On Appeal from the 291st Judicial District Court Dallas County, Texas Trial Court Cause Nos. F23-76443, F23-76453, F23-76454, F23-76455, F23-76524, 23-76576,223-76577

ORDER

BONNIE LEE GOLDSTEIN, JUSTICE.

On November 7, 2024, court reporter LaToya Young filed a request for extension of time to file the record. In the request, Ms. Young states she is requesting the extension on behalf of herself and Norma Rico who both are responsible for the reporter's record. Ms. Young states that Ms. Rico "is asking for a 30-day extension." Ms. Young does not state in the request whether she has completed her portion of the reporter's record.

The reporter's record in these appeals is overdue. The reporter's record was originally due July 22, 2024. On July 25, this Court notified Ms. Young that the reporter's record was overdue and directed her to file the reporter's record within thirty days. On August 30, 2024, Ms. Young filed her first request for extension of time to file the reporter's record; we granted her request and ordered her to file the reporter's record on or before September 27, 2024. On October 3, 2024, Ms. Young filed her second request for extension of time to file the reporter's record; we granted the request and ordered her to file the reporter's record by November 4, 2024.

We GRANT the request for extension of time to file the reporter's record, and we ORDER Ms. Young and Ms. Rico to file the complete reporter's record no later than DECEMBER 4, 2024. It is now more than one hundred days past the original due date for the reporter's record. We caution Ms. Young and Ms. Rico that if the complete reporter's record is not filed by December 4, 2024, the Court will utilize whatever remedies it has available, which may include ordering that both Ms. Young and Ms. Rico not sit as court reporters until the complete reporter's record in these appeals is filed, and abating for the trial court to hold a hearing and make findings concerning the reporter's record.

We DIRECT the Clerk to send copies of this order to the Honorable Stephanie Huff, Presiding Judge, 291st Judicial District Court; Sasha Brooks, Official Court Reporter, 291st District Court; LaToya Young, Court Reporter; Norma Rico, Court reporter; Christina O'Neil, Chief Judicial Staff Counsel for the Criminal District Courts, Dallas County; and counsel for all parties.
