Importantly, however, we've held that we may skip procedural default issues if the claim would fail on the merits. See Dallas v. Warden, 964 F.3d 1285, 1307 (11th Cir. 2020) (addressing a 28 U.S.C. § 2254 petition), cert. Denied sub nom. Dallas v. Raybon, 142 S.Ct. 124 (2021).
