Deandre Lamonte COLEMAN, Appellant v. The STATE of Texas, Appellee

From the County Court at Law No. 13, Bexar County, Texas Trial Court No. 565224 Honorable Rosie S. Gonzalez, Judge Presiding

ORDER

LORI I. VALENZUELA, JUSTICE.

On April 3, 2024, appellant's trial counsel, Cornelius Cox, filed appellant's notice of appeal. On April 22, 2024, the trial court granted Cox's request to withdraw. The same day, Raymond Villareal, was appointed to represent appellant. On May 1, 2024, the trial court additionally appointed William Davidson to represent appellant. Villareal and Davidson have both communicated with this court that they believe they were mistakenly appointed and wish to be removed from representing appellant in this appeal. Neither Villareal nor Davidson have filed a docketing statement, which was due May 20, 2024, or appellant's brief, which was due June 3, 2024.

We abate this case to the trial court and ORDER the trial court to, August 9, 2024, answer the following question: Who is designated as lead counsel for this appeal?

The trial court is further ORDERED to file supplemental clerk's record and reporter's record, if any, in this court, no later than August 12, 2024, which shall include an answer to the above question. All appellate filing dates are ABATED pending further orders from this court.
