PLEADING, § 227mode of bringing in new parties. In an action for violating a city ordinance, where there was no complaint or statement of claim filed against one of two defendants, and no service of summons on him or appearance by him, the court was without jurisdiction to pronounce judgment against him.

Appeal from the Municipal Court of Chicago; Hon. ERWIN J. HASTEN, presiding.

Reversed. Heard in first division, first district, this court at October term, 1941.
