ADAM CHASTEEN, Plaintiff, v. ROD JOHNSON, et al., Defendants.

Judge Marbley

Magistrate Judge King

ORDER

Plaintiff, a state prisoner, asks that he be excused from furnishing a copy of the original Complaint and Amended Complaint for service on each of the 27 defendants. Doc. No. 19. Referring to the Court's grant of leave to proceed in forma pauperis, plaintiff suggests that prison officials "provide the cost of copies and postage fees for this service . . . or that the Court furnish the requisite copies of the Complaint to defendants. . . ." Id.

The fact that plaintiff was granted leave to proceed in forma pauperis does not entitle him to free copies of his filings. 28 U.S.C. §1915. See Anderson v. Gillis, 236 Fed. Appx. 738, 739 (3rd Cir. 2007)(citing Douglas v. Green, 327 F.2d 661 (6th Cir. 1964)); Thomas v. Croft, 2010 WL 1629628, *3 (S.D. Ohio April 21, 2010). There is no requirement that plaintiff provide photocopies of the Complaint and Amended Complaint; he may copy those documents by hand if he chooses to do so.

Accordingly, plaintiff's motion that he be excused from providing sufficient copies of the Complaint and Amended Complaint for service of process, Doc. No. 19, is DENIED.
