Donald BRASSFIELD, Appellant v. THE STATE OF TEXAS, Appellee

From the 25th Judicial District Court, Guadalupe County, Texas
Trial Court No. 16-1733-CR-A
Honorable William D. Old III, Judge Presiding

ORDER

After Appellant's court-appointed counsel filed an Anders brief, we advised Appellant that if he desired to file a pro se brief, he must do so by May 4, 2020. Subsequently, this court issued a general order granting an extension of time to file briefs until June 30, 2020.

Before the extended due date, this court received Appellant's pro se motion for a ninety-day extension of time to file a pro se brief. Appellant is currently incarcerated. In his motion he states his unit is in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he has no access to the law library, and he does not know when the lockdown will be lifted.

Because of the extraordinary circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Appellant's motion is GRANTED. Appellant must file the pro se brief with this court by September 29, 2020.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said court on this 13th day of July, 2020.
