Opinion

No. C02-1954 P(JLW)

Attorney for Petitioner, Robert Pauw

Attorney for Respondents, Christopher L. Pickrell

JOINT STATUS REPORT AND MOTION TO FURTHER STAY PROCEEDINGS, AND ORDER THEREON

This is a civil immigration-related habeas corpus proceeding. Since filing of the lawsuit, the parties conferred and agreed there is a very good chance this case can be resolved through further negotiation and further administrative actions, without need for judicial intervention. The Court graciously stayed proceedings herein for 60 days because those administrative actions would involve U.S. State Department posts and/or INS offices overseas.

The parties hereby notify the Court that progress has been made and administrative resolution of this matter continues to appear likely, but the case is not fully resolved yet. The parties remain hopeful for resolution of this matter within the next several weeks.

Therefore, Petitioners and Respondents hereby jointly move for a further 60-day stay of proceedings in this case, after which the parties will file, by February 24, 2003, a further Joint Status Report or other appropriate documents.

ORDER

The parties having jointly so moved, and good cause having been shown, the above is SO ORDERED. The Clerk is directed w send copies of this Order to all counsel of record, and to Judge Pechman.
