DAMAGES, § 433 — gross excessiveness of personal-injury damages awarded woman. $14,300 as damages for injuries sustained when plaintiff, an unmarried 39-year-old woman employed before accident as a practical nurse at $45 per week plus board and room, was thrown to ground while boarding defendant's streetcar was grossly excessive, and verdict for that amount could not be cured by remittitur, where plaintiff failed to prove a causal connection between accident and many elements of damage sought to be charged thereto, such as fibroid tumors in plaintiff's uterus and diseased condition of her Fallopian tubes and ovaries.

Appeal from the Circuit Court of Cook county; the Hon. THOMAS J. COURTNEY, Judge, presiding.
Reversed and remanded. Heard in the second division, first district, this court at the October term, 1947.
