Ricardo P. ACOSTA, Appellant v. The STATE of Texas, Appellee

From the 144th Judicial District Court, Bexar County, Texas Trial Court No. 2023CR4679 Honorable Michael E. Mery, Judge Presiding

ORDER

Beth Watkins, Justice

Appellant's brief was originally due September 18, 2024 and was not filed. On September 25, 2024, we issued an order notifying appellant that if he did not file his brief by October 7, 2024, we would abate this appeal and remand the cause to the trial court for a hearing to determine whether appellant or appointed counsel had abandoned the appeal.

On October 24, 2024, appellant filed a motion for extension of time which represented that his current counsel was not appointed until October 16, 2024. Appellant requested an extension of time to file the brief until November 16, 2024, and we granted the motion.

On November 14, 2024, appellant filed a motion requesting an additional extension of time until December 12, 2024. After consideration, we GRANT the motion and ORDER appellant to file the brief by December 12, 2024. Further requests for extension of time will be disfavored.
