Section 8-204 - Juvenile court employees; merit system; annual reportA. The director of juvenile court services shall serve at the pleasure of the presiding judge of the juvenile court.B. In counties which have adopted or hereafter adopt a limited county employee merit system pursuant to title 11, chapter 2, article 10 or a judicial merit system, juvenile probation officers, juvenile surveillance officers and juvenile detention officers other than the director and deputy director of juvenile court services shall be included in such county merit system or judicial merit system and entitled to the same privileges and protections provided in such merit system for other county employees or court employees. Deputy directors and all other employees of the juvenile court may be included in the county merit system or judicial merit system at the discretion of the presiding judge of the superior court in each county.C. The director of juvenile court services, in addition to all other duties, must submit an annual report to the presiding judge of the superior court and the legislature that includes the number of juveniles that the court has retained jurisdiction over pursuant to section 8-202, subsection H.
