Section 24.10 - Purpose

This Part establishes certain standards that shall apply to the issuance of all Illinois professional educator licenses endorsed in teaching, school support personnel, and administrative fields. The standards set forth in this Part shall apply both to candidates for licensure and to the programs that prepare them. That is:

a) Beginning October 1, 2021, approval of any preparation program or course of study in any teaching, school support, or administrative field pursuant to the State Board of Education's rules for licensure (23 Ill. Adm. Code 25.Subpart C) shall be based on the congruence of that program's or course's content with the applicable standards identified in Section 24.50. Programs already approved under 23 Ill. Adm. Code 25.Subpart C shall submit program alignment by October 1, 2025.
b) Beginning June 30, 2024, approval of any preparation program or course of study in any teaching field pursuant to the State Board of Education's rules for licensure (23 Ill. Adm. Code 25.Subpart C) shall be based on the congruence of that program or the course's content with the applicable standards identified in Section 24.140. Programs already approved under 23 Ill. Adm. Code 25.Subpart C shall submit program alignment by June 30, 2026.
