On July 1, 2020, this court issued an order advising Stephen Lascari of the risks of his stated decision to discharge his appellate counsel and dismiss the no-merit appeal in favor of proceeding pro se with postconviction motions he filed in the circuit court. Lascari was ordered to file a response either confirming his choice to discharge his appellate counsel and dismiss the appeal or indicating his decision to retain present counsel and proceed with the no-merit appeal.

We have now received Lascari's response. Lascari states that he has considered the information provided and confirms his choice to dismiss the appeal and discharge his appellate counsel. The court will, as it must, dismiss the appeal. See State v . Lee , 197 Wis. 2d 959, 972, 542 N.W.2d 143 (1996).

IT IS ORDERED that the motion to withdraw as counsel filed by Marcella De Peters is granted.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the appeal is voluntarily dismissed pursuant to WIS. STAT. RULE 809.18(1).
