Leopoldo Ortiz RAMIREZ, Appellant v. The STATE of Texas, Appellee

From the 226th Judicial District Court, Bexar County, Texas

Trial Court No. 2007CR10902

Honorable Sid L. Harle, Judge Presiding

ORDER

Appellant Leopoldo Ortiz Ramirez's brief was originally due March 11, 2013, but it was not filed. On May 28, the trial court appointed new appellate counsel, George E. Shaffer, to represent Ramirez after this court abated the appeal pursuant to Rule 38.8(b)(2) of the Texas Rules of Appellate Procedure. On June 12, 2013, we reinstated the appeal on the docket of the court and ordered appellant's brief due July 12, 2013. Counsel has not filed the brief or a motion for extension of time.

We order George E. Shaffer to file appellant's brief by August 7, 2013. Counsel is advised that no extension of time will be granted absent a showing of extraordinary circumstances. Any request for an extension of time must (1) show extraordinary circumstances, (2) advise the court of the efforts counsel has expended in preparing the brief, and (3) provide the court reasonable assurance that the brief will be completed and filed by the requested extended deadline.
