ORDER PROMULGATING AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES FOR ADMISSION TO THE BAR


The Minnesota Board of Law Examiners is responsible for administering the rules that govern the admission of lawyers to practice law in Minnesota. The Board requires discretion to extend deadlines established by the Rules for Admission to the Bar in some cases, in order to respond to extraordinary circumstances that may warrant a limited extension of time, including the current public health emergency. See Exec. Order No. 20-01 (Mar. 13, 2020); Exec. Order No. 20-20 (Mar. 25, 2020).

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Rule 2(B) of the Minnesota Rules for Admission to the Bar is amended, effective immediately, as follows:

B. Due dates specified under these Rules shall be strictly enforced and shall mean no later than 4:30 p.m. on the date stated, absent a written determination by the Board that extraordinary circumstances warrant an adjustment of a specific deadline for all applicants. ; if If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a legal holiday, the deadline shall be the first working day thereafter. Materials mailed with a p Postmarks dated on the due date will be accepted.
