IN RE DARRYL TOLOR, Relator

Original Proceeding from the County Court at Law No. 2 Collin County, Texas
Trial Court Cause No. 002-00315-2017

MEMORANDUM OPINION

Before Justices Lang, Evans, and Stoddart
Opinion by Justice Lang

In this original proceeding, relator complains that the trial judge refused to rule on relator's petition for occupational driver's license. Relator seeks a writ of mandamus directing the trial judge to rule on the petition. On April 25, 2017, the trial court signed a written order for occupational license. The petition for writ of mandamus is now moot. See Trulock v. City of Duncanville, 277 S.W.3d 920, 924 (Tex. App.—Dallas 2009, no pet.) ("a case on appeal is moot if: (1) there are no live controversies between the parties; and (2) any decision rendered by the appellate court would be an advisory opinion"). An appellate court is prohibited from deciding a moot controversy. Id. at 923 (citing Nat'l Collegiate Athletic Ass'n v. Jones, 1 S.W.3d 83, 86 (Tex. 1999)). Accordingly, we dismiss this original proceeding as moot.
