IN THE INTEREST OF M.R., A CHILD

On Appeal from the 417th Judicial District Court Collin County, Texas Trial Court Cause No. 417-30026-2019

ORDER

LANA MYERS, JUSTICE

Appellant, maternal grandmother, filed this appeal following the striking of her petition in intervention in the underlying child protection case. Before the Court is her motion for appointment of counsel.

We DENY the motion. While an indigent parent in a child protection case is entitled to appointed counsel, a grandparent is not. See Tex. Fam. Code Ann. § 107.013(a); see also Erazo v. Sanchez, 580 S.W.3d 768, 770 (Tex. App.-Houston [14th Dist.] 2019, no pet.) ("There is no general right to counsel in Texas in civil cases.").
