IN THE INTEREST OF J.I.C., a Child

From the 166th Judicial District Court, Bexar County, Texas Trial Court No. 2017CI17323 Honorable Larry Noll, Judge Presiding

Sitting: Beth Watkins, Justice Liza A. Rodriguez, Justice Lori I. Valenzuela, Justice

MEMORANDUM OPINION

PER CURIAM

Appellant's brief was originally due on January 4, 2022 and was not filed. On January 20, 2022, we ordered appellant to file her brief and a written response reasonably explaining: (1) her failure to timely file a brief; and (2) why appellee is not significantly injured by her failure to timely file a brief. Our order cautioned appellant that if she failed to file the brief and written response by February 4, 2022, we would dismiss her appeal for want of prosecution. See Tex. R. App. P. 38.8(a); see also Tex. R. App. P. 42.3(c) (allowing involuntary dismissal if appellant fails to comply with court order).

On February 4, 2022, appellant filed a written response that provided, in total:

To whom it may concern,
I apologize for my being late in turning in my litigation for my appeal. I struggled with understanding and completing the paperwork needed. I was dealing with some issues regarding assistance with completing the requested documentation which
caused the delay. Please find my documents included and my sincere apology for this. I appreciate your time and understanding. I pray the Appellee is not injured for this delay.

Sincerely, Cassandra Briones Pro Se Litigant

No documents were attached to her response, nor did she file a brief. Because appellant has failed to timely file a brief, we dismiss this appeal for want of prosecution. Tex.R.App.P. 38.8(a).
