From the 454th Judicial District Court, Medina County, Texas
Trial Court No. 19-02-13115-CR
Honorable Donna S. Rayes, Judge Presiding
ORDER
This is an accelerated appeal from a juvenile court's order waiving its exclusive original jurisdiction and transferring a child to a criminal district court for criminal proceedings as an adult. See TEX. FAM. CODE ANN. § 54.02. We are required to ensure that this appeal is brought to final disposition within 180 days of the date the notice of appeal is filed. See Texas Supreme Court, Misc. Docket No. 15-9156, ORDER ACCELERATING JUVENILE CERTIFICATION APPEALS AND REQUIRING JUVENILE COURTS TO GIVE NOTICE OF THE RIGHT TO AN IMMEDIATE APPEAL, August 28, 2015.
The clerk's record was filed on December 20, 2019. The reporter's record was filed on January 7, 2020. Therefore, appellant's brief was due on January 27, 2020. See TEX. R. APP. P. 38.6(a) (stating an appellant's brief in an accelerated appeal is due twenty days after the complete appellate record is filed). On February 4, 2020, appellant filed a motion requesting an extension of time to file his brief. The motion is GRANTED. Appellant's brief is due on or before February 27, 2020; however, given the accelerated nature of this appeal, no further extensions will be granted absent extenuating circumstances.
