RE: Designation of Interim Chief Magistrate in Oconee County

ORDER

Donald W. Beatty, Chief Justice

I FIND THAT the impending resignation of Oconee County Chief Magistrate Michael T. Simmons will create a vacancy in the Oconee County chief magistrate position, requiring the interim appointment of a Chief Magistrate in that county. Therefore, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4, Article V, of the South Carolina Constitution, IT IS ORDERED that Judge Blake A. Norton be designated as Interim Chief Judge for Administrative Purposes of the Summary Courts for Oconee County and his authority shall include, but not be limited to, the administrative purposes and acts set forth in my Order dated June 28, 2022, designating Chief Judges statewde.

The authority conferred on the Interim Chief Judge for Administrative Purposes of the Summary Courts for Oconee County by this Order shall become effective July 23, 2022, and shall continue through December 31, 2022, unless changed or revoked by Order of the Chief Justice.
