Opinion

Administrative Order No. 2008-08

January 23, 2008.

On November 17, 2005, Administrative Order No. 2005-85 was entered establishing the Domestic Violence Rules Committee and appointing members to the Committee. The Committee was directed to research other statewide domestic violence rules, study the issues relevant to domestic violence procedural matters in Arizona, and consider alternatives to Rule 96, Domestic Violence Benchbooks in the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure, which could include statewide domestic violence rules.

On June 29, 2007, the Domestic Violence Rules Committee, by and through its chairman, the Honorable William J. O'Neil, Pinal County Superior Court, submitted a final Rule 28 petition to the Supreme Court requesting adoption of newly created statewide domestic violence rules entitled the Arizona Rules of Protective Order Procedure.

By Order dated September 5, 2007, the Supreme Court adopted the Arizona Rules of Protective Order Procedure and established an effective date of January 1, 2008.

Therefore, having completed its objectives and all membership appointments having expired on December 31, 2007 (pursuant to Administrative Order No. 2007-12),

IT IS ORDERED that the Domestic Violence Rules Committee is abolished effective upon the date of this Order.
