Margaret Guidry v. David Evans, Jr.

From the County Court, Menard County, Texas Trial Court No. 2021-00068 Honorable Brandon Corbin, Judge Presiding

REBECA C. MARTINEZ, CHIEF JUSTICE PATRICIA O. ALVAREZ LUZ ELENA D. CHAPA IRENE RIOS BETH WATKINS LIZA A. RODRIGUEZ LORI I. VALENZUELA, JUSTICES

ORDER

Irene Rios, Justice

On January 24, 2023, this court sent a notice to appellee stating the appellee's brief was past due and had not been filed. The notice instructed appellee to file a response stating a reasonable explanation why the appellee's brief has not been filed.

In response, the appellee-proceeding pro se-filed a response with this court "requesting a delay" and stating appellee's counsel no longer represents appellee. Appellee informed the court that he is "actively searching for different representation at this time."

The response is a reasonable explanation why the appellee's brief has not been filed. We also construe appellee's response as a motion for extension of time to file the appellee's brief. The motion is GRANTED. Appellee's brief is due on or before April 6, 2023.

Further requests for extension of time will be disfavored.
