In Free v. Abbott Labs., 529 U.S. 333, 120 S.Ct. 1578, 146 L.Ed.2d 306 (2000), the Court granted certiorari to review the Fifth Circuit's en banc holding that § 1367 overruled Zahn and allowed courts to exercise supplemental jurisdiction over unnamed plaintiffs in diversity-based class actions, see Free v. Abbott Labs., 176 F.3d 298 (5th Cir. 1999) (en banc).
