Opinion filed October 25, 1946 Released for publication November 20, 1946
DIVORCE, § 173 — statutory power of court to provide for maintenance. Where divorce decree granted allowance to wife of lump sum payment together with monthly payment for alimony and child support, which husband objected to as unauthorized by law, under sections 18 and 19 of Divorce Act, court clearly had equitable power to provide for maintenance of wife and child, either by awarding of lump sum payment or by monthly payments or by both (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1945, ch. 40, pars. 18, 19; Jones Ill. Stats. Ann. 109.185, 109.186).
