In Re: Ryan Casey Bridges, applying for supervisory writs, 22nd Judicial District Court, Parish of St. Tammany, No. 2015-12666. BEFORE: WHIPPLE, C.J., McDONALD AND CHUTZ, JJ.
STAY DENIED. WRIT GRANTED WITH ORDER. The trial court's oral ruling of July 26, 2017, finding Applicant, Ryan Casey Bridges, in contempt and imposing sanctions of costs and attorney's fees is a final, appealable judgment once reduced to writing. See La. Code Civ. P. arts. 1911, 1915(A)(6), and 1918; Capital City Press v. Louisiana State University System Board of Supervisors, 2013-1994 (La. 8/28/13), 120 So.3d 250; Robinson v. Harlan, 2012-0363 (La. 4/9/12), 85 So.3d 131; In re Jones, 2010-0066 (La. App. 5th Cir. 11/9/10), 54 So.3d 54, 57-58, writ not considered, 2010-2738 (La. 2/4/11), 56 So.3d 979; also see Hains v. Hains, 2009-1337 (La. App. 1st Cir. 3/10/10), 36 So.3d 289, 301 (oral ruling must be reduced to writing to be considered a final judgment). Therefore, provided that the oral ruling of July 26, 2017, finding Applicant, Ryan Casey Bridges, in contempt and imposing sanctions of costs and attorney's fees has been reduced to writing, the writ application is granted for the limited purpose of remanding the matter to the trial court with instructions to grant the relator, Ryan Casey Bridges, an appeal pursuant to the August 24, 20117 Notice of Intention to Apply for Supervisory Writs. See In re Howard, 541 So.2d 195 (La. 1989) (per curium). In the event Applicant seeks to appeal the trial court's judgment, he shall submit an order for appeal to the trial court within fourteen days of this court's order. Additionally, a copy of this court's order is to be included in the appellate record.
